Welcome to the Gentlemen Songsters’ Website

The Gentlemen Songsters began in 1932 as the Chevrolet Glee Club of Detroit. It was founded by Dave Redwood a general foreman at the Chevrolet-Detroit Forge Plant who thought that men needed to do something more than work all day.

The Songsters welcome back Peggy Barry Bartz as our director. We look forward to her enthusiasm and ingenuity as we move forward.

“On the Road with the GLMCA” is the theme for this year’s 2019 Big Sing, hosted by the Lansing Men of Orpheus. Our rehearsal location!We rehearse at Clawson High School. Park in the main lot which is 2 blocks North of 14 Mile, West off Main St. (Livernois) on LePla. Enter the High School main entrance and turn right. The music room is two doors past the main office. Click here for map to school.

We are members of the Great Lakes Male Chorus Association,  Each year we participate in an “Annual Sing” in which we join voices with approximately 300 singers from around the Michigan/Indiana/Ohio area. This year, we will be joining with other GLMCA choruses in Findlay, Ohio. Click on the GLMCA District Sing tab on the left or the link on the right for more information.
